William George Tacey, 78, of Hampton Twp., our loving husband, father, papa and friend to many was born into eternal life on the evening of Monday, June 22, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the home he built. William was born in Saginaw on January 2, 1937, the son of the late Ray and Helen (Miklovicz) Tacey. He honorably served in the United States Army and was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, the former Janice M. VanTol on September 27, 1958. William attended Central Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1967. He was the current Hampton Twp. Treasurer and was a former Hampton Twp. Supervisor and Bay County Commissioner. He was the retired owner of Lucky's Record Shop and touched countless lives as a teacher, counselor, football and basketball coach at St. Stan's Grade School and All Saints High School and also worked at Aetna Cement. William enjoyed blueberry picking, deer hunting, trips to the casino, spending time at his RV on the beach in East Tawas and trout fishing. He was a member of the Bay County Treasurer's Association, Bay County Township Officer's Association, Democratic Party Member, Knights of Columbus, Fr. Van Rooy Council 2740 and the Michigan Municipal Treasurer's Association. William leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Janice. He was the unconditional loving father of William G. Tacey II, Sandra L. and husband, David Gohlke and Sherry S. Rivet. William was the proud and loving papa of Ashley Tacey, Alyssa and Alyxandra Gohlke and Courtney, Grant and Laken Rivet. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald and wife, Lillian Tacey; sister-in-law, Shirley Tacey, along with many in-laws, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, William was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Gary Tacey and father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Florence (Bokhart) VanTol. William's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Knights of Columbus Bible Presentation and sharing of memories, and again on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Save Brian's House (Hospice). Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
