Alan Lloyd Butler Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Alan Lloyd Butler, 61, of Bay City, formerly of Traverse City, our loving, kind, funny, and loyal brother and uncle passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region. Alan was born in Lansing on April 10, 1961, the son of the late Lloyd and Jean (Hinshaw) Butler. Alan was a graduate of Waverly High School in 1979, and was a proud Warrior. Through the years, Al served in various service industry jobs, such as general kitchen help, fast food, and grocery store. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, spending time with his small group of close friends (Josh, Sue, Ray, and Sabrina), participating in Special Olympics during his younger years, and an unwavering allegiance to his beloved Michigan State University Spartans. Go Green!! Al had a very kind and generous heart with not one mean bone in his body. He also had a very unique way of connecting with all kinds of people due to his overly positive and friendly demeanor. No matter what might have been happening in Al’s life, when you asked him how he was doing, he would always reply very emphatically, “GOOD!” If only we could all go through life with this kind of attitude and approach. To carry on his legacy, Alan leaves his older brother, Phillip (Brenda) Butler of Canada; older sister, Deborah (Butler) White of Westbrook, Connecticut, and younger brother, Richard (Beth) Butler of Gaylord. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
