Amy Elizabeth Gilles

March 26, 1957 - March 1, 2021

Amy Elizabeth Gilles, a loving sister, aunt and friend, passed away at age 63 from complications related to a longtime illness. Amy was born and raised in Bay City, Mich. She graduated from John Glenn High School and went on to obtain an associate degree from Saginaw Valley State University. For much of her life, Amy worked for the family business, Gilles Glass & Mirror, in Bangor Township. Born with the gift of gab, Amy loved to chat about significant others, the latest antics of a family pet or troubleshooting recipes. She relished her hobbies and loved to cook, read, watch movies and do jigsaw puzzles. She also made a habit of doling out homemade gifts, such as hand-knit scarves and tins of cookies. For the last several years, Amy called the Bay County Medical Care Facility home. There, she took part in their bingo games and enjoyed helping out facility staff, particularly with decorations. Amy is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Gilles; her uncles and aunt, Skip Kokaly, Chuck Kearly, Bob Seward and Donna Seward; her longtime partner Robert “Bobby” Klemm; and her beloved cat, Precious. She is survived by her siblings, Susan Murray and Peter Gilles, as well as her nieces and nephew, Sara Murray, Diana Townsend, Erica Manning and Tanner Gilles. She is also survived by her aunts, Carol Kearly and Jean Kokaly. Amy will be missed by so many more. She drew people in with her generous heart, nonjudgmental demeanor and sense of humor. As Amy’s health declined, her heart remained as wild and courageous as ever. She found love once again in her time at the facility and was heartbroken when he passed on earlier this year. “I miss him like hell,” Amy said, in the days before he greeted her in heaven. We miss her like hell, too. Amy's family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of her 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in Calvary Cemetery. In remembrance of Amy, donations can be made to the Bay County Medical Care Facility or the Disability Services Resource Center in Bay City. The obituary was lovingly written by the family.
