April 26, 1940 - May 17, 2020
Toni Dereszynski, 80, of Hampton Twp., our loving, faith-filled, glitzy, and sometimes sassy mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went Home to be with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Close to Home Assisted Living in Bay City. Toni was born in Portsmouth Twp. on April 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Stanley and Theresa "Pat" (Zielinski) Symborski. She was a 1958 graduate of St. John High School. Toni's career spanned from farming to retail; however, she found her passion in the insurance and financial securities field. At one time, Toni even ran for Hampton Twp. Treasurer. On June 10, 1994, she was united in marriage to Richard Dereszynski, who preceded her in death on April 22, 2020. A woman of great faith, Toni was a member of In His Presence Ministries for many years and enjoyed Bible Study and Christian Fellowship. Toni was a master gardener and especially loved roses. She also loved to golf, camp, was an artist and painter (member of the DaVinci Society of Sebewaing), and a precise seamstress, but above all, Toni loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved for years to come. Toni leaves to carry on her legacy, her three children: Terri (Robert) VanOchten of Munger, Julie VanTol of Bay City, and Steve VanTol of Essexville; step-children, Laurie (John) Rayl of Silverwood, Kathryn Tait of Lakeland, FL, Sherry (Edward) Kolacz of Caro, David (Lisa) Dereszynski of Berthord, CO, Rachelle Dereszynski (Nelson Gomez) of Panama City, FL, George Dereszynski of Rangeley, ME, and Charlotte (Kenneth) Tajak of Alanson; grandchildren, Duane (Stephanie) Ahrens, Kayla (Sylvain) Ahrens, Kevin (Kayla) Ahrens, Hailey, Sean, and Mica VanTol; step-grandchildren, Dan (Cheri) Rayl, Jeremy (Bobbi) Rayl, Sarah (Chris) Cooper, Brandon (Delaila) Tait, Cameron Tait, Emily Kolacz (John Childers), Nolan Kolacz, Alex (Laura) Dereszynski, Aaron Dereszynski, Michael, Kristen, Joshua, and Lauren McLaughlin; Izabella, Arianna, Isaiah, Noah, and Thia Dereszynski; Simon Tajak; great-grandchildren, Trace Ahrens, Pierce and Roslyn Ahrens; step-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, and Lydia Rayl; Brianna and James Rayl, Thomas Cooper, Gunner Tait, and Jack Dereszynski; siblings, Sally (Jerry) VanTol and Kenneth (Barbara) Symborski; brother-in-law, Frank Derris, along with many nieces and nephews, who Toni had a very special love for. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial will be held at a later date and will be announced by Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Fish Tales or Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Close to Home Assisted Living for their compassionate care. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
