March 22, 1947 - December 27, 2020
Bernice Kay Wiergowski, 73, of Quanicassee, our selfless and devoted sister, aunt, and most loyal friend was born into eternal life on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region. Bernice was born in Bay City on March 22, 1947, the daughter of the late Steve and Leona (Houthoofd) Wiergowski. She was a 1965 graduate of Akron-Fairgrove High School and went on to work and retire from McLaren Bay Region’s accounting department after 42 years of service. Bernice loved her position at McLaren and was devoted to her work. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and a devout Catholic, with her faith sustaining her throughout life. Bernice was also proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed tuning into the Mollie B Polka Show. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, shopping and finding a good deal, and bowling in her younger years. Above all, Bernice loved time spent with her family and friends. She leaves to carry on her legacy, her sister, MaryAnn Greania and brother-in-law, Ricky Greania. She was the most loving and supportive “Aunt Bee” of her nieces and nephew, who were the lights of her life: Brian (Jennifer) Greania and their daughter, Nadia; Laurie (Clint) Ewald and their children Lydia (Sam) Braun, Ethan, Claudia, and Lance, and Heather (Matthew) Roosa and their children, Jonathan and twins, Ava Jade and Matthew II. Bernice’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. On Monday, January 4, 2021, Bernice will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Bernice’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in Wisner Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish or McLaren Bay Medical Foundation. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to McLaren Bay Region for their compassionate care of Bernice. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
