Carolyn J. Hartwig, 75, formerly of East Tawas, our proud, strong, meticulous, independent, and hardworking mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Carolyn was born on January 16, 1946, in Omer, the daughter of the late Jack and Bernice (Dybicki) Long. Carolyn graduated from high school and went on to later further her education at Great Lakes College. She worked at Tawas Area Presbyterian Church as the Church Secretary, where she had many friends. Carolyn was an amazing cook who made the best pierogis, frosted sugar cookies, and pies. She enjoyed couponing, rebating, line-dancing, sewing, crafting, thrifting, gardening, and hunting for morel mushrooms. There was nothing she couldn’t do. Above all, Carolyn loved spending time with her family, they were the lights of her life. Carolyn was happy to be living with her daughter, Kim in Midland, where she could be with her family and share happy memories. Her smile was so bright being around her children, grandchildren, and sister, Lori. She will be missed dearly for generations to come. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Kimberly A. Hartwig and James J. (Melissa) Hartwig; grandchildren, Tiffany Strohmeyer, Marissa Precour, & Grace Hartwig; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ryder & Connor; Special sister, Lori Lopez who she was very close with, brother, Richard (Dianne) Long, and sister, Bobbi (Otto) Mullins, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was welcomed home to heaven by the father of her children, James H. Hartwig and her sister, Jacqueline Pietryga. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heartland Homecare, especially her home care nurse, Lucy, who brightened Carolyn’s spirits every Tuesday morning. As well as, Cancer Services of Midland, Senior Services of Midland, and MidMichigan Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
