November 10, 1938 - November 19, 2021
Charles Rolland Pries was born November 10, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan. He is the son of Howard and Lelah (Green) Pries. He was covered with Jesus’ robe of righteousness at his baptism on December 23, 1938, in his home in Carrollton. He promised life-long faithfulness to Jesus when he was confirmed on June 1, 1952, at Grace Lutheran Church – Downtown Saginaw. He attended Bethlehem Lutheran Grade School and he graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1956. Chuck married Kay Lapprich on December 12, 1959, at St. John’s – the old church on Elm Street in Saginaw. They enjoyed almost 62 years together. Chuck faithfully served his Savior by supporting the ministry of St. John’s. Over the years he attended a lot of church council meetings and voter’s meetings. He currently served as a money counter. Chuck graduated from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant with a teaching degree. He taught high school at Bridgeport and Carrollton. Then after a few years, he became a truck driver, delivering ice cream on a daily route first for Borden’s Ice Cream and then for Mooney’s Ice Cream. For the last 20 plus years of his working days, he drove semi-truck over the road from Michigan to New York to Minnesota. He absolutely loved those driving years of his life. Since the early 1980s Chuck loved attending Michigan Lutheran Seminary high school football games, both at home and away. He enjoyed reading everything about history and politics, watching sports, and traveling and truck driving. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Kay Pries; children, Rev. David (Betty) Pries of Appleton, WI and Ann Pries of Saginaw; and granddaughters, Elizabeth (Dylan) Belisle of Weyerhaeuser, WI and Sarah Pries of Stevens Point, WI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Charles Pries. God gave Chuck his crown of life on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the age of 83 years and 9 days. Chuck’s soul is in heaven with Jesus. His mortal remains will be laid to rest after this service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, waiting for the glorious certainty of the resurrection of the body from the grave when Christ returns in all his glory. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord! Chuck’s family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 10:00 AM until Chuck’s 11:00 AM Memorial Ceremony at St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saginaw. Rev. Andrew Retberg will officiate with interment following in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot.
