December 4, 1963 - January 7, 2021
David Loren Winters, 57, of Bay City, our loyal and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Thursday, January 7, 2021, at his home under the loving care of his family. Dave was born in Bay City on December 4, 1963, the son of David Jack and Bonnie Jean (Pembroke) Winters. He was a graduate of John Glenn High School and received his Associate Degree from Delta College. While at Bay Lanes, he happened to meet a young lady by the name of Joyce Elizabeth DesJardins. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 8, 1988. Their 32 years were blessed with three children and countless memories. Dave retired from General Motors, where he began his career at Saginaw Steering Gear, then down to Flint, then back to Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry, before making his way back home to Bay City Powertrain. In his free time, Dave enjoyed the great outdoors – be it hunting with his son, David Thomas, fishing, shooting, snowmobiling, riding quads with his family, camping at Old Orchard, and time spent at the family cabin in the beautiful Upper Peninsula town of Newberry. A most dedicated family man, Dave also enjoyed regular visits from his daughter, Lauren’s dog, Chloe, and looking after his beloved daughter, Abbie. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for years to come. David leaves to carry on his legacy, his faithful wife, Joyce; children: Lauren (Jeff) Bond, Abbie Winters, and David Winters (fiancée, Morgan Charbonneau); parents, Dave and Bonnie Winters; identical twin brother, Todd (Bridget) Winters; brother, Mark Winters; sister, Rebecca (Ken) Goretski; in-laws, Annette (Jim) Stacer, Richard (Yvonne) DesJardins, and Kenneth (Sandy) DesJardins; nieces and nephews, Hillary, Haley, Hannah, Chad and his children, Alexis and Tyler; Lyndsay, Kendra, Kyleigh, Jordan, Ryan, Angie and her daughter Francesca “Frankie,” Jim, Emilie and her daughter, Annabelle, Vincent, Darcie, Nicholas, Dustin, Patrick, and Lisa and her daughter, Payton, along with his faithful companion, the family dog, Bailey. Dave was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Elizabeth “Betty” (Lesperance) DesJardins. Dave’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, David will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until David’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
