August 22, 1940 - January 18, 2022
David Paul Woods, 81, of Essexville, our hardworking, humorous, and most compassionate father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 with his family by his side. Dave was born in Oak Hill, Ohio on August 22, 1940, the son of the late Floyd and Edna (Leonard) Woods. He grew up in the Owendale area, and following graduation from high school, proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After returning home from the service, Dave went to work for General Motors, retiring from Bay City Chevrolet after 40+ years of service. On December 19, 1964, David married the love of his life, the former Regina Helen Fischer. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage, six children, countless foster children, and many wonderful memories. David and Regina were proud to have fostered many children over 40 years. Always quick with a joke, Dave had a wonderful sense of humor that will be deeply missed. One who always believed “another person’s trash is another’s treasure,” Dave was an avid junk picker. He also enjoyed coin collecting, hunting, traveling the world with Regina in his younger years, and volunteering as a firefighter with the Hampton Twp. Fire Department. Above all, Dave’s family always came first. He would be the first to do anything, for anyone. Dave’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come. To carry on his legacy, David leaves his children, Sheila (Todd “Tj”) Jacobs, Lori (Pat) Srebinski, David (Carrie) Woods, Adam Woods, Katie (Paul) Rich, and Andrew Woods; grandchildren, Sarah (Rob) Fitzpatrick, Amanda Jacobs, Marissa (Patrick) Mackowski, Kyle (Kristen) Srebinski, Emily Srebinski, Jared Jacobs, Lily Kaiser, Caleb (Alison) Woods, Wesley Woods, Allyson Woods, Kira Woods, Ellora Woods, Henry Rich, and Max Rich; six great-grandchildren, Chace, Jade, Leila, Cooper, Charlotte, and Axel; loving sisters, Marilyn (Norbert) Haag, Pat (Ralph) Zinnecker, Wanda Dubs, Joan Merchant, and Linda Woods; several in-laws, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife Regina Helen Woods on February 7, 2020, and his sister, Carol Pilon. David’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM and again on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM until David’s 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate with the interment to be held privately in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
