July 28, 1942 - April 27, 2021
Donald Joseph Drouin, 78, of Hampton Twp., our hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on the evening of Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region with his family by his side. Don was born in Bay City on July 28, 1942, the son of the late Earl and Florence (Seifferly) Drouin. Don graduated from St. James High School and went on to work at Sears and for General Motors Powertrain – Bay City, where he retired from after 40 years of dedicated service. On August 10, 1963, Don married the love of his life, the former Joann Meyer. Together they shared over 57 years, two wonderful children, and countless memories. Don was a parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching old movies, golfing, bowling, fishing, and taking trips to the casino. Don was a huge fan of the happiest place in the world, Disney World, where he could walk in and feel instantly happy. Don also enjoyed sitting by the fire with his brother-in-law, Lenny, drinking a cold one and eating hard boiled eggs; this was a favorite past time of his. He is going to be missed dearly. Don leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Joann; children, Missy (Brian) Martin and Chad (Angie) Drouin; grandchildren, Emily Drouin, Amanda Martin, Reanna Drouin, and Adam Martin; siblings-in-law, Judy Niemann, Leonard (Christine) Meyer, Karen Keit, and Pam (Matt) Korkus, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Don was welcomed home to heaven by his sister, Nancy (Ronald) Hegenauer; siblings-in-law, Sharon Johns, Diane Sauve, Richard Niemann, Bill Keit, and Gary Pitts. Don’s family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. On Monday, May 3, 2021, Don will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of his 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family, c/o Melissa Martin. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
