Donald George Rosebush, 68, of Bay City, our humorous, loving, generous, caring, and gentle husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend went Home to be with the Lord and his beloved son, Jared Donald, on the morning of Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Bay City on October 31, 1951, the son of George and Barbara (Martens) Rosebush. He was a 1969 graduate of John Glenn High School. While at the family cottage on Secord Lake, Don happened to meet a young lady by the name of Donna Dettmer from Bay City, who's family also had a cottage three doors down. They eventually dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 6, 1971. He went on to work for General Motors - Powertrain as a furnace operator, prior to retiring after over 33 years of service. Don also worked as a substitute special education instructional support staff at Bay Arenac ISD. Donnie was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #414. He was known for his love of University of Michigan Football, camping (especially at Outdoor Adventures), Euchre tournaments, golf cart rides, playing cornhole, casino bus trips, cruising on Carnival Cruise Lines, and above all, time spent with family. Don's favorite place to be was in his garage, where he enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and relaxing. Don devoted his time to Area 9 Special Olympics, where he was Past Assistant Area Director, coach, chaperone, faithful volunteer, and was inducted into Special Olympics Michigan Hall of Fame. Don’s family was also the recipient of the Family of the Year award from Special Olympics Michigan. Don's heart of gold and love for his family and friends will live on for years to come. Don leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife Donna Rosebush; children, Amy Rosebush and Janelle (Bob) Miller; father, George Rosebush; grandchildren, Meghann Rosebush, Bailey Miller (Shay Williams), Blayke and Brayson Miller; great-grandchildren, Zander & Caleigh Rosebush; sisters, Leighann (David) Bannan and Lynn Rosebush; brother, Thomas (Stacy) Rosebush; sister-in-law, Ardis (Dave) Luptowski, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many many friends, and his beloved labs, Mazie and Mocha. Don was preceded in death by his son, Jared Donald Rosebush; mother, Barbara Rosebush, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Rita Dettmer. Don's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 2:00 PM until Don's 6:30 PM Life Celebration for family and close friends at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N.
