August 15, 1936 - January 1, 2022
Dorothy May VanNorman, 85, of Thomas Township, our strong, hardworking, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022, at home with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on August 15, 1936, to the late Francis and Betty (Dubay) Krohn. Dorothy was the second oldest of thirteen children. Dorothy attended Saginaw High School. It was in High School that she met the love of her life, the late Dale VanNorman. They were married on February 11, 1955. Although Dorothy wore many hats, her favorite job was working alongside her husband. Dale started his own insurance company and they worked side-by-side for 25 years. One of their favorite pastimes was dancing. On the weekends they could be found at local venues, doing the Jitterbug or Polka. Prior to moving to Alva, Florida for retirement, both Dale and Dorothy were members of the Saginaw Elks Lodge. They spent the best years of their lives in Florida. Both Dale and Dorothy were the life of any party. They were extremely involved in their senior community, they helped organize many events, everything from golf cart parades to costume parties. Dorothy also enjoyed BINGO, bowling, playing cards and the occasional casino trip. Dorothy was a faithful member of Hopevale Church. Her faith had grown stronger over the past eight years where she came to a deeper relationship and love for the Lord. Dorothy lived life to the fullest and loved being with family and friends. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law, Alison VanNorman, grandchildren, Paul (Karen) VanNorman and Hollie Ayers (Charlie Berthiaume); great-grandchildren, Hayden Bennett, Camden VanNorman, Ella VanNorman, and Riley VanNorman; siblings, William (Lela) Krohn, Mitchell (Connie) Krohn, Delores (Joe) Winter, Carol Peitsch, Lue (Richard) Weishuhn, Tommie Krohn (Cherie Bingham); sister-in-law, Sue Krohn and many nieces and nephews.
