Elmer Irvin Finkbeiner, 77, of Hampton Twp., our loving, strong, giving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 with his loving family by his side, at his home. Elmer was born on November 27, 1943, in Bay City, the son of the late Irvin and Myrtle (Julian) Finkbeiner. Elmer attended Visitation Catholic School and graduated from T.L. Handy in 1961. He went on to answer the call of his country, serving honorably in the National Guard. On December 1, 1969, Elmer married the love of his life, the former Wanda Confer. Together they shared over 51 years together, four children, and countless memories. Elmer worked at the Grey Iron Foundry from 1963-2001, where he held positions as a General Foreman and was on Special Assignment in the Manufacturing and Engineering Departments. Elmer was an Innovative Idealist throughout General Motors World Wide. He then started with CMI Schneible/Detroit Muscle from 2001-2009 and retired as a Manufacturing Manage. Elmer was a lifelong member of the North American Hunting Club and the American Foundrymen’s Association (now American Foundry Society). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and taking trips to the casino. Above all, Elmer loved time spent with his wife and family. Elmer leaves to carry on his legacy, his loving wife, Wanda; children, Steven Dorst, Michael Dorst, Heather Grant, and Kimberly (Frank) Rakowski; grandchildren, Tiffany (Justin) Warren, Robert Elmer Dorst, Jessica (Tim Sparks) Dorst, Hunter Elmer Rakowski, Michael Dorst, and Samantha Jo Rakowski; great-grandchildren, Alex, Blake, Chloe, and Gage Warren, and Oliver and Kinsley Sparks; siblings, Larry (Nancy) Finkbeiner and Dorothy (Ronald) Martin; mother-in-law, Iraline Yahrmarkt; sisters-in-law, Earline (Frank) Bryden, and Linda Ford; life-time friend, Fred Neering, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Elmer was welcomed home to heaven by his sisters, Marge Hankison, Darlene Winchell, Donna LaPan, Terri Seefeld, and Jean Ann Hiscock. Elmer’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N.
