Fred Eugene Eberling

December 6, 1939 - May 11, 2022

Fred Eugene Eberling, 82, of Saginaw, our loving, friendly, curious, charitable and patriotic father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle went to be with his Lord unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Covenant Hospital ER. Fred was born on December 6, 1939 to the late Frederick and Mary (Allen) Eberling. He enlisted in the Army when he was 17 and served in the Armored Tank Unit. After 20 years, he honorably retired as a Master Sergeant and went to work as a U.S. Postal carrier for 18 years. While serving his county and community, he got a GED and then proudly took 10 years to earn his bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Finance from Saginaw Valley State University. While attending a Divorce Support group, he and Lori (Daggitt) Coone met, dated, fell in love, and were married on September 15, 2001. Fred enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling to see family, watching the stock market, and drinking wine with friends. Left on earth to carry on without him are his beloved wife, Lori; children, Deborah (John) Hewitt, James (Judith Ann) Eberling, Carl (Tracy) Eberling, and Dell (Kim) Darnell; grandchildren, whom he was very proud of, John Charles Hewitt, Lynette Hewitt, Carole Hewitt, Sabelle Eberling, Jamie Eberling, Nathaniel Eberling, Lydia Eberling, Zachary Eberling, Story Darnell, Teagan Darnell, and Riggs Peterson; sibling, Betty Jo (Paul) Capito; mother-in-law, Ethel Daggitt; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his two older sisters. Fred’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM until Fred’s 11:30 AM Memorial Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, East Side Soup Kitchen, or Saginaw Rescue Mission.
