George James Hilsabeck

George James Hilsabeck, 94, of Bay City, our hardworking, smart, and loving, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region. George was born in Menominee on November 7, 1927, the son of the late Earl R. and Lucy M. (Richter) Hilsabeck. George proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He later graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in mechanical engineering. George worked for Consumers Energy and was also the proprietor of Bay Sales and Delta Paper Products. He enjoyed arts and crafts, fishing, boating, going to the casino and playing cards, and golfing in his younger years. George enjoyed his membership with the American Legion. Throughout life, George had many accomplishments, including inventing and assembly line for a conveyor, for flatbed tow trucks in New York. To carry on his legacy, George leaves his children, Barbara (Jeff) Boettcher, Earl Hilsabeck, and Bryan K. Hilsabeck; grandchildren, Kevin (Dawn) Mullins, Keith (Pam) Mullins, Jarrad (Amanda) Lofton, Jeremy Lofton, and Melissa (Anthony) Malenfant; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kaden, Cody, David, Kyle, Tyler, Ericka, Joshua and Brendon; sister, Fern Brabender; very special friends, Robert and Linda Jaenicke, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, Earl Hilsabeck; brothers, Henry and Robert Hilsabeck, and his sisters, Edna Johnson, Dorothy Juedes, Alice Mitchell, and Ilene Champeau. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
