Helen Elaine Thompson

January 19, 1937 - April 5, 2021

Helen Elaine Thompson, 84, of Essexville, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went Home to be with the Lord on the evening of Monday, April 5, 2021 at her home. Helen was born on January 19, 1937, the daughter of the late Elmer and Vera (Myers) Geiersbach in Jackson, Michigan. At Spartan Electronics, where she worked on Sonobuoys, she met her love and future husband, Jerry Thompson. Their 53 years of marriage were blessed with four children and countless memories. Helen was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed gardening, having placed the garden in the local garden walk. She also enjoyed cooking, visiting with her friends, and going to the various Michigan casinos. Helen was helpful to all and will be remembered for generations to come. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children: Cindy (Tom) Bond of Bay City, Wayne (Rose) Thompson of Florida, Jerry Thompson of Virginia, and Thomas (Sandy) Thompson of Bay City. Helen was the loving grandmother of Kristy (Joe) Harris, Steven (Shelly) Bowker, Shauna Mason, Trisha (Eric) Starling, Tyler Thompson, and Nicholas and Olivia Thompson. She will forever be missed by her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Logan, Conner; sister, Marian Holtzapple, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was welcomed Home to Heaven by her husband, Jerry in 2016; brother, Ralph (Margie) Geiersbach, and brother-in-law, Bud Holtzapple. Helen’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM until Helen’s 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1705 Nebobish Ave., Essexville. Rev. Erwin Hutter will officiate with private interment to be held in Floral Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
