BAY CITY - Irving DuBay, 83, our hard-working, devoted, proud, and outgoing, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region. Irving was born on August 26, 1937, in Pinconning, to Ferdinand and Lena Howden (Grumbley) DuBay. He was raised on the family farm alongside his four siblings. After meeting on a blind date, Irv was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Betty Tahash, on December 19, 1959. Together they celebrated 45 years of marriage. Sadly, Betty passed away in 2005. In his working years, Irv was employed as a crane operator for American Brownhoist for 16 years and eventually retired from the Bay City Public Schools Maintenance Department. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Detroit Lions and Tigers, Michigan Wolverines Football, boxing and WWE. His other interests included deer hunting and coaching his children’s Little League baseball teams. Irving is forever loved by his children: Kenneth (Janet) DuBay, Susan (Michael) Clark, Kelly (Donald) Shepard; grandchildren: Brandon (Brittany Jones) Lefevre, Carissa (Jesse) Cameron, Ryan (Katelyn) DuBay, Samantha DuBay, Leeann (Michael) Reinke, Erik (Brittany Austin) Shepard; great-grandchildren: Emelia Jane, Reid, Delilah, and Ronan; siblings: Roger DuBay, Alice Rodak, and Diana Fogelsonger; in-laws Robert and Barbara Tahash. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty DuBay, grandson Zackery John Shepard, and brother Jerome DuBay. Irving’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home and begin at 5:00 PM with Fr. Dale Orlik to preside. Irv will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Betty, at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
