May 21, 1936 - May 13, 2020
James Charles Kujawa, Sr., 83, of Bay City, our faithful, patriotic, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region. Jim was born in Saginaw on May 21, 1936, the son of the late Stanley and Stella (Pietrzak) Kujawa. Jim attended St. Rita's School and later graduated from Saginaw High School. Answering the call of our country, Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army and continued to be an American Patriot; a true, loving countryman throughout his entire life. Jim met his soul mate and love of his life, the former Gloria Fick. They were united in marriage on November 30, 1963 in St. Hyacinth Church. After 40 years of dedicated service, Jim retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Family always came first with Jim. He loved family gatherings, especially summer pool parties and loved Mama's cooking the best. Jim was an avid sports fan and liked watching sports on TV, especially the Detroit Lions & Tigers, and University of Michigan Wolverines. His annual trips he would make with the guys in the family to the Tigers games brought Jim great joy. He also enjoyed spending time outside, tending to his lawn and taking care of his flowers. Jim leaves to carry on his legacy, his devoted wife of 56 years, Gloria, and their four children: Dianne Schmidt (Brian Guinn), Cindy (John) Holiday, Karen Kujawa, and Jim (Kelly) Kujawa. The family continued to blossom with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jim also leaves behind his siblings; brother, Dick (Carolyn) Kujawa, who he remained very close with and enjoyed time spent metal detecting for treasures in the Saginaw Bay, and his sister, Nancy Murawski, along with many nieces, nephews, and their families. Jim was an avid dog lover and loved his companions as though they were his own children. He will forever be missed by Riley and Kaley, who will miss his daily treats to them. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene (Ron) Kincade, brother-in-law, Jim Murawski, and sister-in-law, Maxine Kujawa. Jim was a great role model for his family and was truly loved by all. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial will be held at a later date and will be announced by Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of Bay County or Covenant Kids. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
