Jean Katherine Lach, 97, of St. Charles, our devoted, feisty, and occasionally stubborn mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Union Court in St. Charles. Jean was born in Saginaw on June 23, 1924, the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (Spero) Duquette. She attended and graduated from high school in St. Charles. In July of 1942, Jean was united in marriage to Bertan Lach; he preceded her in death in September of 1997 after 55 years of marriage. Jean worked for many years at Saginaw General Hospital, prior to staying home to care for her ailing husband. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, and was known for making the best german potato salad. She also enjoyed reading and sewing. A devout Catholic, Jean was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and had special devotions to St. Padre Pio and The Blessed Mother. Her devoted and loving ways will forever live on. Jean leaves to carry on her legacy, her children: Sandra Terelya and James B. (Nancy) Lach; grandchildren, Kimberly Bennett, Ryan (Dawn) Mack, and Justin Lach; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Cody, Madison, and Rylee Bennett; Jessie and Brooklyn Mack, and Alicia Gehrcke; great-great-grandchildren, Talon, Maverick, and Atticus Bennett; sister, Janice (Donald) Lytle, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jean was welcomed Home by her daughter, Beverly Mazzola; infant child, Leslie Lach; sisters, Ruby (Ernie) Bostedt, Evelyn (Ashley) Walters, and Eleanore (Elwood) Murphy; an infant brother; sons-in-law, Josyp Terelya and Joseph Mack; her beloved cat, Tessa, and her bird, "Sweetie Bird." Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Liturgy will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 12, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Visiting will be at church on Monday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Final arrangements are in the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to A&D Pace for support and friendship during a difficult time; to A&D Hospice for their great care of both mother and daughter; nurses, Vanessa, Rebecca and Louise for their compassion and care; to Union Court for their care and understanding for our family, and to Spencer Skorupski and Team, for making a sad situation into a gentle and joyful experience.
