Jean Marie Kokaly Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jean Marie Kokaly, 85, of Bay City, our generous and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was born into eternal life in the early morning of Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Brian's House. Jean was born on February 9, 1937 in Bay City, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary (Baranek) Neering. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School. Jean worked for Callahan Paper and many other positions until her retirement from Kokaly Lawn Sprinklers. She enjoyed vacations to Houghton Lake in the summer and spending time up north at the cabins, spending time at family gatherings, and going on weekly lunches with her friends. Jean loved dogs, and especially her grand-dogs. She was an avid fan of the University of Michigan football. Jean was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She supported many wonderful organizations such as Brian's House, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warriors Project and the Women's Center. To carry on her legacy, Jean leaves her children, Kirk Kokaly, Kelly Kokaly-Mead and her husband, Mark Mead, and Kevin Kokaly; grandchildren, Jason (Beth) Kokaly, Spencer and Alex Kokaly, and their mother, Karrie Kochevar, Logan Kokaly, Rachael Kokaly, and Riley Kokaly; great-grandchildren, Ashton Kokaly, Payton Kokaly, and Katelynn (Charlie) Muir; great-great-grandchildren, Everest and Maddox Muir; sister's-in-law, Shirley Henderson and Barbara Socia, and brother-in-law, Butch Kokaly. In addition to her parents Jean was preceded in death by the father of her children, Leonard "Skip" Kokaly; sister, Patricia (Robert) Gilles; brother's-in-law, Buck (Peggy) Kokaly, Richard Socia, and Jim Henderson; nieces, Amy Gilles and Patricia Kocsis, and nephew, Robert Henderson. Jean's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 3:30 PM until her 5:00 PM Memorial Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge and Center. Fr. Dale Orlik will preside. A meal will follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski's. Cremation has taken place.
