Joan Marie Kowalski

July 8, 1951 - April 29, 2022

Joan Marie Kowalski, 70, of Bay City, our kind-hearted, supportive and most loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend was born into eternal life in the early evening on April 29, 2022 at Bay County Medical Care Facility with her family by her side. Joan was born in Cass City on July 8, 1951 to the late Steve and Helen (Halasz) Kovach, along with her twin sister, Joyce. While out with friends, Joan met Wayne Kowalski. They dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on May 7, 1973 in Bay City. Together they shared over 49 years and countless memories. Joan was a general laborer at Delta Metal Products until just before they closed in 1988. She enjoyed time raising her family, and then retired from Meijer in 2011 after 16 years of dedicated service. With a deep love of the outdoors, Joan loved working in the yard and having bonfires. She could regularly be found bicycling or walking. She loved spending time at the family cabin in Ossineke. Joan and Wayne would spend time fishing together, even if it was not her favorite. She was a talker, but an even better listener. Joan could be on the phone for hours with Joyce or Marlene. She enjoyed conversations with those she loved. Joan adored her granddaughter, Abby. She and Abby especially enjoyed doing puzzles, but anything they did together was perfect. Joan's memory will live on in the hearts of many for years to come. To carry on Joan's legacy, she leaves her loving husband of 49 years, Wayne; sons, Brian (Lisa) Kowalski and Scott Kowalski, and her granddaughter, who was the light of her life, Abby Kowalski. Joan also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Bell, and her twin, Joyce (Gary) Webster; brother, Albert (Liz) Kovach; mother-in-law, Mildred LaDouce; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Kovach, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Joan was welcomed home to Heaven by her brothers, George Kovach and Frank Kovach; sister, Julie (Norman) Lyman, and brother-in-law, Don Bell. Joan's family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, May 4 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
