October 1, 1942 - April 7, 2021
Joseph George Centala, 78, of Essexville, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region. Joe was born in Bay City on October 1, 1942, the son of the late Alfred Centala and the former Margaret (Poirier) Wright. Later in life he connected with the love of his life, the former Martha Jo Eden. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 6, 1998 outside underneath a pavilion with family and friends in attendance. Their almost 23 years of marriage was blessed with countless memories. Those who knew Joe will forever remember him for his kind nature, quick and humorous wit, along with his generous and loving ways. He retired from General Motors – Malleable Iron, where was an electrician for over 30 years. In his free time, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, anything to do with the outdoors, cooking, trips with his loving wife to the casino, and visits with family and friends. Through thick and thin, Joe always made it through life with a smile on his face. He will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered for years to come. He leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife, Martha Jo Centala; daughter, Julie (Rick) West; son, Mark (Stephanie) Centala; step-sons, Dave (Desiree) Meisner, Dan (Brandi) Meisner, and Derek (Sarah) Meisner; grandchildren, Sarah and Ricki West; Miranda Olivo, Joseph Meisner, Pairres Franklin, and David Meisner; Layla and Daniel Meisner; Brendan Meisner; great-grandsons, Noah and Nicholas Olivo; brother, Leroy (Debbie) Wright; his sister, Rose Swanton (Bob Zielinski), and in-laws, Jerry Beaver and Terri Oginsky. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, SueAnn Wright, Diane Beaver, Mike Centala, and William (Gloria) Centala. Joe's family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 10:30 AM until his 11:30 AM Memorial Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N.
