Kathleen Niezurawski Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kathleen Niezurawski, 72, of Bay City, our kind, compassionate, happy and intelligent sister passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Charter Senior Living after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Kathy was born on June 3, 1950, the daughter of the late Eugene and Leona (Glaza) Niezurawski. Kathy graduated from Bay City Central High School. She was always actively involved with the yearbook and school newspaper club in high school. Kathy went on to attend Central Michigan University, where she majored in History and Spanish. She went on to graduate from Michigan State with her bachelor’s degree in Teaching. During the summer months she enjoyed being a tour guide and taking groups of students to Mexico. Her life passion was editing. She worked in St. Louis, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles as an editor with prestigious newspapers. She eventually returned to Detroit and worked with the Detroit Free Press. Kathy was a lifelong learner and loved to read; she went back to school and earned a degree in Library Science from Wayne State. Kathy was very adventurous and enjoyed bird watching and hiking, and was a proud member of the Sierra Club. To carry on her legacy, Kathy leaves her brothers, Michael (Bonnie) Niezurawski and David (Kimberly) Niezurawski, along with many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
