December 22, 1940 - November 14, 2021
Margaret Ann "Peggy" Kokaly, 80, of Essexville, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and most loyal friend passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 14, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region. Peggy was born in Saginaw on December 22, 1940, the daughter of the late Alan and Lucille (Greania) Dean. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and was united in marriage to Elvin "Buck" Kokaly on June 17, 1961. Their marriage was blessed with six children and countless memories. Peggy was active in the local real estate industry and also worked at Brissette's 6-12 Party Store. Her most rewarding career was raising her wonderful family. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and formerly St. Joseph Church. She was passionately proud of her family and consistently boastful of her "perfect" grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A never ending and passionate supporter of her entire family, Peggy was always present at their many activities and sporting events as their proudest fan. Peggy was friendly and respectful to everyone, and was well loved by all that knew her. She was also well-known for her love of card playing, which earned her the affectionate nickname of "Poker Peggy." Peggy had a knack for making people feel confident about themselves, as she was always sharing compliments and support. She had an uncanny ability to make people laugh with her wit and no-nonsense approach. The way she made everyone's lives brighter will forever be cherished, and she will be terribly missed by all. To carry on her legacy, Peggy leaves her six children, Craig (Heidi) Kokaly of Bay City, Scott (Terri) Kokaly of Clifton Park, NY, Mark (Jamie) Kokaly of Guymon, OK, Kimberly (Scott) Moore of Petoskey, Christopher (Kim) Kokaly of Essexville, and Ashley (Justin) Berg of Glen Rock, NJ; grandchildren, Isaac Kokaly (fiancee, Autumn Majeske), Jacob Kokaly (fiancee, Aubrey Herr); Vanessa (Andrew) Kuenker, Bryanna, Brady, and Jullien Kokaly; McCully and Riley Kokaly; Easton, Callaway, and Reed Moore; Savannah, Laney, and Ella Kokaly, and Tyler, Ian, and Miles Berg; great-grandchildren, Lukas, Evan, and Jack Kuenker and Leo Kokaly; in-laws, Shirley Henderson, Barbara Socia, Jean Kokaly, and Irwin "Butch" Kokaly, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elvin "Buck" Kokaly; her dear sister and best friend, Rosemary Brissette, and her in-laws, Paul Brissette, Skip Kokaly, Richard Socia, and James Henderson. Peggy's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
