January 24, 1937 - November 13, 2020
Maria Amada Coss, 83, of Bay City, our loving, selfless, and most generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. Amada was born in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, Mexico, on January 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Modesto and Maria (Salinas) Zaragoza. On June 9, 1955, Amada was united in marriage to the love of her life, Cristobal Coss, who preceded her in death on August 31, 2019 after 64 years of faithful marriage. After 30 years of faithful service, Amada retired from Michigan Sugar. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Parish in Saginaw. Amada had a wonderful “Green Thumb” and was known for her love of gardening. In her younger years, she also enjoyed knitting and sewing. Above all, family always came first. Amada’s great-grandchildren were the true lights of her life; her pride and joy. Her gracious, kind, and loving ways will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come. Amada leaves to carry on her legacy, her children: Juan (Perla) Coss, Maria (Jose “Alvaro”) Mireles, and former daughter-in-law, Norma Coss; grandchildren, Maria (Philip) Jezierski, Christina (Adam) Kraft, Monica (Kyle) Hanley, and Norma L. Coss (Kevin Chase); great-grandchildren, Sophia, Alexis, Caleb, Kylie, Marissa, and Juliana; brothers, Santiago (Celia) Zaragoza, Manuel (Linda) Zaragoza, Francisco (Raquel) Zaragoza, and Jose Guadalupe Zaragoza; sisters, San Juana Rodriguez, Maria Z. Ornelas, and Consuelo (Oscar) Garza; sister-in-law, Maria Zaragoza, along with many additional in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Amada was preceded in death by her brother, Juan de Dios Zaragoza, and many in-laws. A Private Family Funeral will be held. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in Floral Gardens Cemetery, Bay City. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
