August 24, 1920 - May 27, 2020
Marie Helen Schubert, 99, of Bay City, our devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at New Hope Bay Assisted Living. Marie was born August 24, 1920 in Bay City to the late Raymond and Jeanne (Talbot) Lefevre. She graduated as Valedictorian from St. Mary’s High School and married Paul R. Schubert on January 19, 1946. Marie was a very resourceful and independent person who focused her life around her family and church. She was a talented homemaker; famously known for her well stocked freezer of delicious cookies and beautiful hand crocheted Afghans that welcomed the arrival of every grandchild and great-grandchild. Spending time with little ones always delighted her. Marie enjoyed the outdoors and was a keen observer of all the wildlife that visited the wooded acreage surrounding her home. She generously gave much time to church ministries for many decades. Her faith and actions modeled integrity, caring, a strong work ethic and commitment which etched an enduring legacy on the hearts of her loving family and friends. Marie is survived by her nine children: Karen Scheffner, Barbara (Richard) Hembling, Maureen (Donald) Bokhart, Patricia (Robert) Lightfoot, Paula (Arthur) Wasek, William (Betty) Schubert, Mary (Lee) Wegener, Robert (Mary) Schubert, David (Marilyn) Schubert, twenty grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Rita Dufresne, along with brothers, Norman (Patsy) and Melvin (Sandi) Lefevre. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her dedicated husband of 44 years, Paul, on December 13, 1990; grandson, Scott Hembling; granddaughters, Julie Hembling and Jennifer Wasek; son-in-law, Charles Scheffner; and brothers, Joseph, Leonard (Patricia), and Lloyd (Monica) Lefevre. A private family Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at All Saints Parish (Church of St. Boniface), 510 N. Lincoln St., Bay City. Fr.
