Mary Ann Kirby

September 11, 1945 - February 20, 2021

Mary Ann Kirby, 75, Thomas Township, Michigan, our beloved, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2021. Mary Ann Kirby was born September 11, 1945, to the late Elmer and Mary (Weigl) Kirby. She graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School. She retired from Eaton Corporation after 30 years, where she was a union steward and made many life long-lasting friendships. Mary was a member of S. S. Peter and Paul Paris her entire life. Mary Ann, known to much of her family as Aunt Sis, was a beautiful, loving soul with a charitable heart and quick wit. She had a fantastic sense of humor and always maintained her independence. Mary loved gardening and bowling. She took joy in feeding her stray cat and the squirrel that would come to the door when they would call for “Kitty”. She enjoyed traveling with friends and still attended monthly lunches with her Eaton family. She was the happiest when she was with her family and friends. Surviving Mary are her lifelong friend, Bonnie Brandimore and other friends who were like family, her brothers, William (Theresa) and Raymond Kirby, her sisters-in-law, Barbara (Donald) and Tanis (Richard) Kirby, and her brother-in-law, Ed (Margaret) Leddy. Aunt Sis is also survived by her many niece and nephews, Todd (Kris) Kirby, Donald (Kristi) Kirby, Mary Ann (Jeff) Rosser, Brian Kirby, Julie Fletcher, Kristi Kirby, Matthew (Shana) Kirby, Melanie (Jace) Bachelor. Amy Schultz, Matt (Becky) Hamilton, Daniel (Joyce) Hamilton, Kim (Josh) Lashuay, Raymond Kirby, Larry Kirby, Geralyn (Sean) Turner, Taylor Kirby Gossett, Cathy Csercse, Megan (Brian) Utter, Melissa Leddy, Daniel (Amanda) Leddy. These are also innumerable great-nieces and nephews that love and will miss her. Mary is preceded in death by her siblings, Donald, Richard, and Max Kirby, and Margaret Leddy, and by her niece, Jackie Turner. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services (formerly Reitz-Herzberg), 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider a donation to a charity of their choice.
