February 25, 1926 - December 2, 2020
On December 2nd, 2020 Mildred “Millie” Bowman, age 94, went to join her loving husband Freeland “Ike” Bowman in Heaven. Millie, daughter of the late James and Nina (Preston)Finn, was born on February 25th, 1926 in Quanicassee, MI. On June 25th, 1949 Millie and Ike were united in marriage and shared 39 years together before Ike’s passing on April 15th, 1988. Together they raised their four kids on their Munger, MI potato farm. In the 1950’s they started their business, Ike’s Welding & Mfg., which is still run by their family to this day. Millie attended Fairgrove High School, graduating in 1944. After graduation Millie became a “Rosie Riveter” working at the Bay City Autolite plant. It was at Autolite where she met her best buddy, Gloria Warszawski. Millie always carried herself with class and dignity. Although Millie was very petite, she was strong in character and was proud of her Irish heritage. Millie was a great mom and grandmother who loved teaching her kids how to play baseball. On any given summer night, washing dishes could wait because it was time to play baseball. She liked to bat more than field balls. We will always remember her saying “just let me hit one more”. Millie was a devoted Detroit Tiger baseball fan and never missed watching a game on TV. Millie loved traveling with Ike to many different tropical islands. After Ike’s passing, she continued to travel several times a year with her best friend Gloria. Millie loved music, gardening, and Bay City Players Theatre. Like all the Finn women, Millie was a great cook who was ready to feed anyone and everyone who entered her home. Millie and Ike are survived by their four kids (kids because that is what she always called us).
