January 13, 1940 - April 22, 2021
Nancy Helen Krauss, 81, of Bay City, our trusting, caring, hardworking, lifesaving, loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on the evening of Thursday, April 22, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on January 13, 1940 at Mercy Hospital in Bay City, the daughter of the late William and Amelia (Stumpel) Wendt. Nancy graduated from Bay City Central and went on to further her studies at Mercy Central School of Nursing and Aquinas College of Grand Rapids. Nancy became her lifelong dream, a Registered Nurse, she absolutely loved helping others. In 1958, Nancy happened to meet Kenneth Krauss before he went into active duty with the Army. After Ken was discharged, he proposed to Nancy and they were united in marriage on June 17, 1961. Together they shared over sixty years together, three wonderful children, and countless memories. Nancy started her career at Bay City Mercy Hospital, working in the nursery, and ended her career at The Carriage House , helping the elderly. She truly went full circle, beginning with life and worked until she couldn’t anymore, helping those end life with dignity. Nancy was the most wonderful mother, she made sure her children were taught how to sew, make their own clothes, be self-sufficient, and to always be kind. Nancy’s most heroic event was saving a man’s life in a restaurant with CPR until the paramedics got there. Nursing was Nancy’s pride and joy. In addition to nursing, Nancy loved spending time at the family cabin in Tawas on Lake Huron, where she was most at peace. She was truly a magnificent wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed dearly for years to come. Nancy leaves to carry on her legacy, her loving husband, Ken; their three children, Kenneth Harold Krauss, Jr. and his wife, Karen, Carol Hahn, and Kellie Holland (Robert); grandchildren, Krissy (Trevor) Martin, Joseph Hahn, Kaisie Hahn, Joshua Hahn, Deanie Holland, Ethan Holland, Kevin (Ivy) Krauss, and Cameron Krauss; three great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Shelly) Wendt; sister-in-law, Betty Wendt, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Nancy was welcomed home to heaven by her siblings, Paul Wendt, Donald (Joyce) Wendt, and Ruth Wendt, along with several other extended family members. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
