May 22, 1958 - December 29, 2021
Pablo “Paul” Lopez, 63, of Saginaw, our humorous, strong-willed, and caring father, Papa, son, brother, uncle, and most loyal friend passed away after a courageous battle with COVID on December 29, 2021. Paul was born in Saginaw on May 22, 1958. He graduated from Chesaning Union High School. Always a hard worker, Paul began working on a family friend’s farm at a very young age. He went on to work for General Motors. Never one to sit still, Paul also worked as a truck driver when laid off from the shop. An avid lover of classic muscle cars, Paul’s car happened to catch the eye of a young prankster by the name of Debra-Sue Madeline Tomczak. Deb TP’d his car, and after Paul did some investigative research, he asked her out. They dated, fell in love, and were eventually married. A true servant of the Lord, Paul loved the Lord and was a founding member of Old Town Christian Outreach Center, where he was heavily involved with the Van Ministry, Mighty Men Ministry, Soup Kitchen, and Celebrate Recovery. While Paul was called many things throughout life, his favorite title was “Papa.” He was a true family man through and through, and cared for others with a Christ-like heart. In his free time, Paul enjoyed camping and fishing, especially in the Grand Rapids area, Caseville, and at Black Lake; cooking, attending car shows, and time spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, mother, siblings, nieces, and nephews. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come. To carry on his legacy, Paul leaves his three children, Leah (Tyler) Roggmann, Corderro Lopez, and Beckah-Joe Lopez; grandchildren, Ezekiel Roggmann and Elijah Roggmann; mother, Maria Salazar; siblings, Lupe (Mike) Wood, Janie (Roy) Trevino, Daniel Lopez, Maria Lopez, Irma Demski, Antonio (Stacy) Lopez, and Mellie Lopez; in-laws, Gary Tomczak, Todd (Becky) Tomczak, and Lisa (Dave) Pender, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Warmly waiting and welcoming Paul to Heaven with open arms was his wife, Debra-Sue, who preceded him in death on December 16, 2021; his father, Daniel C. Lopez; brother, Jose Angel “Joe” (Eileen) Lopez, and grandparents, Antonio and Maria Gonzales and Pablo “Paul” and Suzanna Lopez. Paul’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM until Paul’s 6:00 PM Funeral Ceremony at Old Town Christian Outreach Center, 600 Gratiot Ave., Saginaw. Pastor Bill Bodnar will officiate. The ceremony will be livestreamed and may be viewed by clicking here: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/2495125736 Memorial contributions may be directed to Old Town Christian Outreach Center – Soup Pantry, Baby Pantry, or Celebrate Recovery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot.
