Richard Alvin Keyser, 71, of Bay City, our patriotic, sociable, and loyal father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and most wonderful friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 22, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region. Dick was born in Mio on August 24, 1949, the son of Wesley and Shirley (Bins) Keyser. A graduate of Mio High School, Dick went on to answer the call of our country, proudly serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for General Motors – Powertrain, where he retired after 42 years of service. Dick loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed, hunting, fishing, camping, or boating. Always the life of the party, Dick was known for his larger-than-life personality and love for his family and friends. He leaves to carry on his legacy, his mother, Shirley Keyser, longtime companion, Pam Vaerten, and his three children, Alisa Richardson (Max Strychar), Laura Keyser-Stevens (Mark Stevens), and Nathan Keyser. Dick was a wonderful “Grandpa Dick” and will forever be missed by his grandchildren, who were the lights of his life: Paisley, Breanna, Benjamin, and Jack Stevens, Greyson and Claire Keyser, and Zenan, and Xander Strychar. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathy (Robert) Kendall, Dale (Beverlee) Keyser, Lichia (Paul) Bucklin, and Becky (Kerry) Phelps, along with many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Keyser, and His son, Eric Keyser. Dick's family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Burial will be held privately in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Memorial contributions may be directed to I Support the 1%, Veteran Food Pantry.
