September 12, 1943 - September 24, 2021
Robert Arthur Reinhardt, 78, of Hampton Twp., our humorous, intelligent, and kind-hearted husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and loyal friend was born into eternal life unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, September 24, 2021 at his home. Bob was born in Saginaw on September 12, 1943, the son of the late Herman and Mary Claire (Pettet) Reinhardt. He attended Holy Trinity School, graduated from Visitation, and received his Associate Degree from Delta College. While at Richie’s Drive In on Euclid, he happened to meet a young lady by the name of Joyce Samyn. They dated, fell in love, and nine months later were united in marriage on August 26, 1965 in St. John’s Church. Their 56 years were blessed with countless memories. Bob retired from CSX Railroad, where he began as a clerk, worked in dispatching, and was also a member of the safety committee. Following retirement, Bob went to work for Target when they opened in the Bay City Mall. He was a true “Jack of All Trades” during his time with Target. A faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, Bob was a dedicated Usher and Eucharistic Minister. Always one with a green thumb, Bob enjoyed gardening. In addition, he was a connoisseur of both wine and music, was an avid bowler, and loved to cook. Bob had a true photographic memory and was a devoted viewer of Jeopardy, often knowing the answers before any of the contestants. Bob’s quick wit and love for his family and animals (especially cats) will always be remembered. To carry on his legacy, Bob leaves his wife of 56 years, Joyce M. Reinhardt; sisters, Nancy J. Shawl, Judy A. Coleman (Rich Busack), Janet M. (Gary) Darling; in-laws, Shirley (Michael) Smith, Ronald (Katie) Samyn, Richard (Donna) Samyn, Beverly (David) Vanderpool, and Nancy McCartney; nieces and nephews, Brent (Jaime) Shawl, Sean (Ronda) Coleman, Jeremy (Lynnette) Coleman, Alicia Freeman, Erin (Kurt) West, Emily (Peter) Ahn, Dawn Cooney, Tracey (Aaron) Kowalski, Brian (Heather) Smith, Sheri (Josh) Sowden, Amy (Nathaniel) Owen, Brad (Ashley Nicole) Smith, Ashley Smith, Stephanie Anderson, Mark (Ericka) Samyn, Janelle (Wesley) Bonem, Adam (Rylee) Samyn, Annette Samyn (Brock Moon), Jeremy (Courtney) Samyn, Randy (Jessica) Samyn, Christy (Bill) Morand, Scott (Sara) Vanderpool, Rich Vanderpool (Sarah Bauer), Kari (Dave) Bye, and Kevin (Tina) McCartney, along with many great- nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cyril and Geraldine (Lukowski) Samyn; special sister-in-law, Janet Samyn; special cousin, John Thompson, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bob’s family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. On Thursday, September 30, 2021, Bob will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Bob’s 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with cremation to follow. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in Floral Gardens Cemetery.
