Bob never complained, but showed how, with a strong faith, you wait for God's plan with an unending sense of humor and an understanding of how important the simple things in life are, and what is important: the love of family, a phone call, watching critters in your backyard, listening to music, and just spending the time you have with people you care about. Born March 23, 1949 in Bay City, Bob lived in Essexville since birth and was a 1967 graduate of St. John's High School. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology from Delta College, a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from Saginaw Valley, and tested out through Metal Park from Ohio State for his degree in Metallurgy. Bob worked for General Motors - Powertrain, just shy of 31 years, where he ended his career as the Plant Metallurgist. Meeting the love of his life when they were young, Bob began dating the former Joan Doyen in high school, and they were married on February 15, 1969 at St. John's Church; recently celebrating 52 years of faithful marriage. Now St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, Bob was a faithful and devoted parishioner, where he served six years on the Parish Council, its Stewardship Committee for three years, and was a dedicated Usher for over 30 years. Bob took great pride in meticulously maintaining his cars, yard, outbuilding, and home. He loved planning trips and never left out a detail for travel, especially in the cold winter months. Bob loved being with family and friends, and through his illness, he received many prayers, calls, cards, food, treats, and visitors, which he felt kept him going longer than most with this illness. Bob is survived by his wife, Joan Fehrenbach; son, Jeffrey R. of Hawaii and Peggy; son, David A. and wife, Holli of Grayling; brother, Bill Fehrenbach; sister-in-law, Rose Fehrenbach; granddaughter, Alyssa of Oklahoma; grandson, Ryan of Hawaii; step-grandchildren, Shelby and husband, Chris Voghtmann (and their children, Camden, Luca, Jaxtin, Radley, and Briggs), and also Riley and Abby Pippin. Bob will forever be missed by his in-laws, Diane and Larry McNenly, Wayne and Susan Doyen, and Terry and Ann Doyen, along with many wonderful nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbors, friends, and his loving parish family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Heric and Adeline (LaForge) Fehrenbach; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Margaret Doyen; brother, Rick Fehrenbach; sisters-in-law, Sandra Fehrenbach and Carole Spacinsky, and brother-in-law, Marty McGee. Bob had a wonderful sense of humor, a genuine kindness and generous nature, and he could talk and visit with any stranger. He enjoyed his Siberian Husky dogs, and especially loved his cat, Sweetie. A devout Catholic, Bob faithfully prayed the Rosary daily for years. He was a loving and helpful dad, an awesome Papa, an incredibly spoiling husband, a much loved uncle, and a great neighbor and friend. He will be missed by many. Bob's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Rosary led by Joan's cousin, Sr. Nathalie Meyer, O.P., followed by a 6:30 PM Vigil & Sharing of Memories, led by Deacon Timothy Hartwig at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville. Visiting will continue at church on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM until Bob's 11:00 AM Memorial Liturgy. Fr. Thomas J. McNamara will preside. The entire family wishes to extend a special thanks for the care given by Dana, Evie, Jenny, and Karrie. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Bob's honor to the children and youth ministry of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, ALS of Michigan, or American Home and Hospice. All visiting will be held at church. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center.
