Ronald Hollingsworth Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ronald Hollingsworth, 92, of Thomas Twp., our caring, kind, loving, easy-going, and very outgoing husband, brother, uncle, and great uncle passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at New Hope Valley Assisted Living. Ronnie was born on August 11, 1929, the son of the late Forrest and Laura Hollingsworth, in Saginaw. He came from a family of eight children and had many memories of fun and antics with his siblings and childhood friends. Ronnie loved everyone he met. Ronnie attended Herig Elementary and North Junior High School. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School. He then went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as a medic. He also played baseball for the Army team, an activity he loved. After returning from the Army, Ronnie went to work for Draper Chevrolet in the parts department and became parts manager until his early retirement due to health issues. It was at Draper that he met Geraldine Moore, the love of his life. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on April 7, 1956. Their marriage was blessed with 64 years of happiness and countless memories. Sadly, Gerry passed away February 28, 2021. In his free time, Ronnie loved playing baseball, hunting, and fishing. Later, he loved to paint, do ceramics, and work with wood. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and dining out. He loved the Detroit Tigers. Ronnie will be deeply missed by his brothers, Gerald (Norma) Hollingsworth and Lionel Hollingsworth. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who loved and adored him. Along with his parents and wife, Ronnie was preceded in death by his siblings, Tim Hollingsworth, H. Ray Hollingsworth, Floyd Hollingsworth, Arlene Robinson, and Marion Sedwick. Ronnie's family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 2:00 PM until a 4:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. Inurnment will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Care Team Hospice and the staff of New Hope Valley Assisted Living for their compassionate care.
