Theresa Marie Gibelyou

October 3, 1929 - April 8, 2022

Theresa Marie Gibelyou, 92, of Bay City, our caring, kind, generous, and most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend was born into eternal life on the morning of Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Toni and Trish House. Theresa was born in Bay City on October 3, 1929 to the late Valentine and Clara (Mrozinski) Kukla. She graduated from St. Hyacinth School in 1944. Theresa was an extremely active and knowledgeable woman. Her first job was at Salzburg Cleaners for many years and she made many memories there. When Theresa became a mom, she created a daycare out of her home. After it closed, Theresa began working for K-Mart Corporation, and retired in 1991. Theresa loved to stay busy; during retirement she worked at St. Hyacinth Church for her nephew, Fr. Jerry Kukla. Theresa was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. She was known for her cooking and baking skills, and had the wonderful ability to recall any recipe from memory. Theresa also enjoyed planning dinner parties and decorating for them. She was meticulous in her details, and was always attentive to the needs of those invited. Theresa was known for her attention to detail, organization and leadership skills. She dressed to impress and was always put together. Theresa was a beautiful and thoughtful soul, and her memory will live on in the lives she touched for many years to come. To carry on her legacy, Theresa leaves her children, Tracey Gibelyou (Roy Ramos) and Ronald Gibelyou; grandchildren, Nichol (Mike) Raymond, Jennifer Gibelyou, Jessica Vermeesch, and Steven Vermeesch, and her great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life, Alexandrea, Anthony, Addyson, Audrey, Riley, Chester and Bo. Theresa also leaves behind her special niece and dear friend, Jean Yager. In addition to her parents, Theresa was welcomed home to Heaven by her daughters, Robin Gibelyou and Jane Gibelyou-Vermeesch, and her four older brothers. The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and supportive staff at the Toni and Trish House. Their compassion and kindness did not go unnoticed. Theresa's family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 2:00 PM until her 7:00 PM Vigil at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge and Center. On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, Theresa will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until Theresa's 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Fr. Dale Orlik will preside. The Rite of Committal will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
