Wayne Allan Manke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wayne Allan Manke, 84, of Bay City, our kind, gentle and big-hearted father and brother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region. Wayne was born in Bay City on June 22, 1938 to the late Guy and Amelia (Baker) Manke. He graduated from Bay City Central and joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. After returning from the military, he met the former Carol Skrzypczak at the Green Hut. They dated, fell in love, and were married April of 1963. Sadly, Carol passed away on June 7, 2008. Wayne was never one to sit still; his career was spent working for Dow Chemical and S.C. Johnson. He was also the proud business owner of the Spinning Wheel in Bay City for 14 years. In his retired years, Wayne kept busy working at Putz Hardware. Over the years, Wayne enjoyed playing and sponsoring softball leagues and knocking down a bowling pin or two. One of his greatest joys in life was his time spent in Florida with friends on and off the golf course. Wayne leaves to carry his legacy, his son, Patrick (Amber) Manke; sister, Arlene Duke; sisters-in-law, Ruth Manke, Lorna Skrzypczak, and special friend, Barbara Morton. Along with his parents and wife, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, Guy Manke Jr., Dorothy Johnson, and infant brother, Harold Manke, along with his brothers-in-law, Edward Duke and Bob Skrzypczak. Wayne’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 1:00 PM until Wayne’s 5:00 PM Military Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge & Center. Burial to be held privately at Floral Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
